Isla Baru, often known as Baru Island in Colombia, is a tropical paradise. This beautiful island offers complete seclusion just a few meters from the coast. It would be best if you didn't allow the closeness to Cartagena to deter you. It's far from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis. A wonderful place to unwind and enjoy nature, this paradise has it all. This Caribbean island is paradise on earth, with its gorgeous white sand beaches (hey, the main beach is named Playa Blanca for a reason! ), pure blue oceans, and plenty of exciting nightlife.
So, how far is it from Cartagena to Isla Baru? Located only 26 miles (42 kilometers) southwest of Cartagena, this island sits in the heart of the Caribbean. The island's convenient proximity to Cartagena is a breeze. You may use a bus, a boat, or a car/taxi to get to the island. It takes around an hour and fifteen minutes and $8 per person to go from Cartagena to Isla Baru by bus. At about the same time as well as $25 would be spent on a private automobile. Direct ferries connect Cartagena with Playa Blanca, which is the quickest route. They last for approximately half an hour and cost $13 per participant. Day trips from Cartagena are possible if you take the boat. However, to maximize your beach time, you must remember when the ferries depart and arrive.
Although day trips to Isla Baru are feasible, we recommend spending at least one night on the island. After the hordes of visitors have returned to the mainland, you may relax in comfort on the beach.
Visiting a beach club is a great way to spend time on the island. Lounge chairs and umbrellas may be rented at several locations along Playa Blanca. While there are several excellent beach clubs, Nena Beach Club is among the best because of its plush four-poster beach mattresses. Even after lunch, it's common to be able to negotiate a discount on your bed. You may also spend a few hours without hiring a chair or lying on the beach. Just roll out your towel and pitch your tent! Playa Blanca is an essential stop for some R&R.
A tour of Isla Baru is a great option if you want to see more of the island. From both Playa Blanca and Cartagena, you may take a boat cruise to explore the area. Nighttime bioluminescence tours are one of the greatest. This excursion departs at 6 p.m., just in time to see the enchantment of the bioluminescent plankton as darkness falls. Scuba diving and snorkeling at the Rosario Islands are amazing for anybody interested in marine life. You'll find Colombia's most stunning coral reefs in this cluster of islands. Furthermore, the undersea life here is spectacular and far less crowded than in Playa Blanca. The boat voyage to the islands takes around 45 minutes and is rough. Find a boat leaving the port on Isla Baru, which will take you to your day's destination. Travel agencies often provide round-trip options.
A world-class aviary may be found on Isla Baru. Numerous bird species may be seen in Aviario Nacional de Colombia, the biggest aviary in Latin America. A great method to cool down and get insight into the island's native flora and animals. Small though it may be, this island is bursting with character. If you want to unwind for the day or stay for a few nights to refresh your energy, you will be satisfied.
In thinking about when to take off on your vacation, remember that the best time to go is between the months of late December through late April. Now is when the weather is at its finest. Due to the high volume of tourists visiting Isla Baru during the summer, this island is at its busiest and most costly in June and July and then again in December. The months of November and December get the most precipitation each year. However, prices have dropped, and temperatures have remained moderate.
In other words, if you don't mind a little rain and want to save money, September and October are the months to go. The spring is the shoulder season when tourism is at its lowest. You can save money if you plan your trip from March through May. You may expect temperatures between 31 and 32.5 degrees Celsius (88 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit), and precipitation is infrequent. Isla Baru, Cartagena, is a paradise you should visit whenever possible. The best way to spend a holiday is lounging on the soft sands and swimming in the turquoise waters of the Caribbean.
Isla Bar (Bar Island) is a beautiful beach location not too far from Cartagena that is accessible by car or speedboat. You'll become infatuated with this paradise island's white sand beaches, sapphire ocean, and easygoing vibe whether you're here for a few hours or a week.
